3 Day Damascus Knife Course
This is a complete Damascus or Pattern Welded knife making course. It can be a bit challenging if you are not initiated in the art of forging. Having said that, a focused enthusiasm will overcome any lack of experience.
- On day one we'll discuss your project and discern the final design. We'll Forge the blade and hopefully Heat Treat and Grind . Starting off with a Billet of 8-9 layers of different types of High Carbon Steel, our goal is to reach around 200 layers in the blade, this will give off a beautiful and unique pattern to your blade.
- Fine Grind, Polish, Edge and Etch. This is done in an acidic medium (we'll discuss pros/cons of various) which reveals the final pattern you will have worked so hard for, a giddy moment! While the etching happens we'll prepare all your handle material, ensuring this is a flowing process on day 3.
- Finally, polish and pre sharpening of the blade before the day is up.
- Handle assembly, final detailing, polishing, sharpening, waxing and oiling before the final sighs of joy and admiration, then a photo shoot...
The Price for this Course is £685 for one and £1,225 should 2 of you decide to come together. I don't have groups so, if you are coming on your own, it's a one-to-one course.
Though I advice keeping things simple, with 3 days we have more time and depending on your own experience, perhaps we can aim a little higher.
